As a City Councilwoman for Riviera Beach for 10+ years, an Educator & School Administrator for 25+ years and a licensed REALTOR® for 4 years, KaShamba Miller-Anderson is both dedicated to the community and the betterment of our youth.
Councilwoman Miller-Anderson’s focus has been on improving the water quality in the city, increased public safety, supporting Riviera Beach's local schools, fighting for a better quality of life for the residents and increasing economic development that benefits the citizens of Riviera Beach. KaShamba is especially proud to have created the Riviera Beach Citizens Leadership Academy in 2017 in an effort to develop future community leaders and promote a better understanding of local government for the residents. The program consisted of ten sessions that provided a glimpse of the inner workings of each department in our municipal government. It was also designed to develop civic leadership and build a stronger community through well-informed, engaged residents. She’s extremely excited to see the spinoff program, Riviera Beach Youth Council, come to fruition this Fall 2025 as this has been long overdue for our city’s youth leaders.
As an educator, KaShamba has worked for the school district for the past 25+ years as an elementary school teacher, reading coach and assistant principal in elementary and middle school. She has a deep passion for education, which was instilled in her by her grandmother Dorothy McRae Greene (an educator for 34 years with the school district).
In 2009, KaShamba became the co-owner of J.D. Anderson Construction, Inc., which is a full-service construction company that specializes in remodeling, new builds, home inspections and construction management.
Seeing a growing need in the birthing community, particularly in the African American community, KaShamba became a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula 2+ years ago. She further advanced her training by also becoming a Childbirth and Lactation Educator. Her mission is to empower families through every stage of childbirth and early parenthood by providing compassionate support, doula services, childbirth and lactation education. Her ultimate goals are to foster positive birth outcomes and decrease the maternal & infant mortality rate by creating a nurturing environment where families feel empowered, informed, confident and supported.
KaShamba Miller-Anderson has earned an A.A., B.S. and a M.S. degree all in the field of Education. She has also taken several graduate courses in the areas of Higher Education, Reading and Public Management as well as continuing education courses in Construction Management and College Counseling.
Mrs. Miller-Anderson most recently was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award from Leadership Palm Beach County. She is a proud member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (WPB Chapter), Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, Leadership Palm Beach County and Executive Women of the Palm Beaches. She’s also an appointed member to the Palm Tran Advisory Board and the Florida League of Cities Municipal Operations Committee.
KaShamba is a proud graduate of Suncoast High School. She earned an A.A., B.S. and a M.S. degree all in the field of Education. She is certified in CPR, a certified teacher and school administrator in the state of Florida and a licensed Realtor.
KaShamba Miller-Anderson was born and raised in Riviera Beach, FL. She’s married to former Port of Palm Beach Commissioner Joseph Anderson and has two adult sons. She’s also the author of a new book “Resilience Redefined: Transformative Journeys of Former Teen Mothers”.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, cooking, dancing, listening to music, singing and traveling.
