Bruce Guyton

Bruce Guyton, Council Member

Bruce Guyton is a dedicated public servant and community leader with extensive experience in urban planning, transportation, and local government. A proud native of Riviera Beach, Mr. Guyton has served the city in various leadership capacities, bringing his passion for public service and community development to every role.

 

Mr. Guyton’s public service career includes three terms on the Riviera Beach City Council from 1991 to 1993, 1993 to 1995, and 2013 to 2016, and he is now on a fourth term where he's working to enhance the quality of life for residents and advocate for sustainable growth and development.

 

Currently, Mr. Guyton serves as a Transit Planner for Palm Tran in Palm Beach County, a role he has held since 2002. His previous professional experience includes positions as a Senior Site Planner with the Palm Beach County Zoning Division and a Planner with Palm Beach County Housing and Community Development. Additionally, he served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Gold Coast Builders Association and as Deputy Village Clerk for the Village of Royal Palm Beach.

 

Mr. Guyton holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wiley College. He is also a Former Certified Public Pension Trustee (CPPT).

 

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Guyton has remained actively engaged in the community. He is the Founder and President of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) - Palm Beach County Chapter and has served in leadership roles at the national level within COMTO. He was the Vice Chair of the Riviera Beach Planning and Zoning Board and has contributed to numerous local and regional organizations. His service includes positions with the Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, and the Palm Beach County Commission on Affordable Housing.

 

Mr. Guyton has also been an advocate for public safety and community development, serving as the Chairman of the Riviera Beach Police Pension Board and holding leadership roles with the Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation (CDC).

 

Throughout his career, Bruce Guyton has demonstrated a deep commitment to enhancing the lives of Riviera Beach residents through thoughtful planning, effective leadership, and active community engagement.
