The Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD) has organized its first Stop the Violence event today at Cunningham Park. Its purpose, according to Police Chief Nathan Osgood, is to deter violent crimes in the City and seek to ensure a stronger connection between the community and the police. "It's another step toward bridging the divide between the community and the police," he said. "We want families to heal and we are seeking the community's support." The event will be attended by City officials, members of MAMA--Mothers Against Murderers Association--and state Senator Bobby Powell, a City native.
