Minimum Qualifications:
  • 19 Years of Age
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • No Felony Convictions
  • No Misdemeanor Conviction involving perjury, false statements, moral turpitude, or domestic violence
  • A candidate must possess a  valid Florida Driver's License prior to appointment as a Police Officer 
  • Within the most recent 4 years of driving, candidate must NOT have accumulated:
    - 6 points or had 2 adjudications withheld for moving violations in 12 months
    - 9 points or had 3 adjudications withheld for moving violations in 18 months
    - 12 points or had 4 adjudications withheld for moving violations in 36 months
  • No Driver's License suspensions for moving violations in the past 4 years  
  • No DUI convictions in past 5 years  
  • Tobacco use prohibited after employment - must sign affidavit
  • Must be honorably discharged from military (if applicable)
  • No Marijuana drug use in past 5 years; no cocaine or other illegal narcotic use in past 10 years; no sale of narcotics ever
  • Non-certified applicants must take and have a successful passing score of 80% on the Criminal Justice Basic Ability Test (CJBAT) and the Fitness and Agility Test at Palm Beach State College (PBCC), Lake Worth, FL. All tests are fee based.
  • Proof of successful passing of the above documents must accompany the application at the time of submission.
