7/2/2025 - IN MEMORY OF PASTOR GRIFFIN DAVIS, SR
FROM THE DESK OF THE CITY MANAGER July 2, 2025 IN MEMORY OF PASTOR GRIFFIN DAVIS, SR. June 30, 2025 | 6:24 p.m. A Tribute from the City of Riviera Beach It is with deep sorrow and reverence that I share the news of the passing of Pastor Griffin Davis, Sr., the revered and beloved pastor of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church in the City of Riviera Beach. Pastor Davis departed this life on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 6:24 p.m., leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, powerful leadership, and steadfast commitment to community. Pastor Davis was more than a minister—he was a man whose personality was larger than life and whose faithfulness to God and Riviera Beach served as a beacon of strength and purpose. His name—and the Davis family name—are synonymous with the very soul of Riviera Beach. He will be deeply missed, not only as a towering spiritual leader but as a friend of the city, a confidant to many, and a relentless advocate for justice, compassion, and the betterment of all who call this city home. On behalf of Mayor Douglas Lawson and the Riviera Beach City Council, including: • Chairperson Shirley Lanier • Chair Pro Tem Kashamba Miller Anderson • Councilperson Bruce Guyton • Councilperson Glenn Spiritis • Councilperson Fercella Davis Panier As well as the entire city administration, we extend our deepest condolences to the Davis family, the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church congregation, his niece, Councilperson Fercella Davis Panier, and the countless residents whose lives were touched by Pastor Davis’s ministry, mentorship, and presence. In honor of Pastor Davis’s life and legacy, I am ordering that on the day of his interment, all flags in the City of Riviera Beach be lowered to half-mast. Furthermore, the City of Riviera Beach flag flown at City Hall will be retired and formally presented to the Davis family as a symbol of our collective gratitude, respect, and enduring remembrance. Pastor Davis shepherded people closer to Christ while never losing sight of his mission to uplift this city. May his life continue to be a guiding example, and may his soul rest in eternal peace. With Deepest Respect, Jonathan E. Evans, MPA, MBA, FRA-RA, ICMA – CM City Manager – Riviera Beach
