RIVIERA BEACH, (August 4, 2023) - The Riviera Beach Police Department is pleased to
announce a significant development in a homicide case that took place on 5/8/22. At
approximately 4:15 pm, officers were dispatched to 3603 Wedgewood Plaza Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of Larry Koonce Jr. who was pronounced dead upon EMS arrival.

Following an extensive investigation that spanned over a year from the date of the incident, the Riviera Beach Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Larry Koonce III, the prime suspect in this case and the decedent's son. On 7/30/23, the diligent efforts of law enforcement culminated in the arrest of Larry Koonce III, who was subsequently taken into custody and successfully transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Larry Koonce III is now facing serious charges related to this crime. He has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder with a firearm and one count of Robbery with a firearm. The Riviera Beach Police Department is committed to ensuring that justice is served, and that the victim's family receives the closure they deserve.

This investigation has been a collaborative effort involving our dedicated
