5/1/2023 - Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project Update
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FDO* PROJECT UPDATE State Road (SR) A1A/Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project Blue Heron Boulevard over the Intracoastal Waterway Palm Beach County, FL Financial Project ID: 445769-1-52-01 SR A1A/BLUE HERON BOULEVARD BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT Located in Riviera Beach, this project consists of replacing portions of the bridge deck in the outside westbound lane and repairing concrete on the bridge foundations. Improvements also include milling and resurfacing the roadway at each end of the bridge and adding new pavement markings. Construction Cost: $4.4 million Construction Start: March 2023 Anticipated Completion: Late 2023 PROJECT ACTIVITIES Please see below anticipated work, weather permitting, through May 15: • Removing the bridge deck in the outside westbound lane. • Repairing concrete on the bridge piers. • Preparing to stage barge under the bridge. TRAFFIC IMPACTS • Blue Heron Boulevard between Lake Shore Drive and west of Lake Drive will have one lane of traffic and a bike lane open in each direction through August 2023. PHIL FOSTER PARK • The park, parking lot, fishing pier, docks, boat ramps and snorkeling trail are open. • The FDOT right-of-way under the bridge is closed. The beach on the southeast side of the bridge is open. Bridge deck demolition continues.
