7/27/2022 - Back to school bash in Riviera Beach to benefit students

RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (July 27, 2022) – Class will soon be in session in the City of Riviera Beach, but before then, come out to the Back to School Bash for a bookbag and school supply give away, free haircuts, manicures and more.

The free event, hosted by the City, Councilman Douglas Lawson and Sincere2000 Foundation, is Aug. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Marina, 190 E. 13th Street. The 4th Annual Riviera Beach Back-to- School Drive will provide students with free backpacks, haircuts, mental health awareness and suicide prevention material, a splash pad, bounce houses, music and free food.

It is vital that the City’s youth are properly equipped with supplies and prepared for the upcoming school year, so every child succeeds, Councilman Lawson said.

“Ensuring that our youngest residents have everything they need to be productive when returning to a brand-new school year has always been one of my highest priorities,” Lawson said. “These last few months have stretched family budgets to their limits, so every little bit helps.”

“Another extremely important priority during my time in office is making certain that we continue to address the mental health needs of our community,” Lawson added. “I'm excited and hopeful that this Back-to-School Drive will adequately address each of those concerns.”

Sincere2000 Foundation brings awareness to the world about mental health and suicide prevention. The organization, which frequently partners with the City and Councilman Lawson, is committed to the wellness of individuals, their families and the community through prevention, intervention and education.

“Our annual event is geared toward educating our community and our young people on the importance of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention,” the organization stated about the bash.
