RIVIERA BEACH HOSTING APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL TEAM PEP
RALLY AHEAD OF BOCA RATON BOWL

RIVIERA BEACH, FL. (Dec. 15, 2021) – The City of Riviera Beach is hosting the Appalachian State University football team Pep Rally this week in what is promised to be a high-energy, party ahead of the nationally televised Boca Raton Bowl.  The Pep Rally, slated for 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17 at Bicentennial Park, 190 E. 13th Street, will boast the North Carolina college’s 400-member marching band, cheerleaders and fans.  Riviera Beach is honored Appalachian State University chose the city to host its Pep Rally ahead of the highly-anticipated Boca Raton Bowl, allowing attendees to experience all that the municipality has to offer visitors, including beautiful beaches, Marina Village and delectable restaurants.  “Hosting the Appalachian State University Pep Rally is a great opportunity for the City to show our beautiful City and all of its attributes,” Parks and Recreation Department Director Richard Blankenship said. “It’s positive for tourism and positive for long-term growth of the City.”  The Boca Raton Bowl, held on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m., is played at Florida Atlantic University Stadium, 777 Glades Road in Boca Raton. The game is a clash of the No. 1 passing offense team in college football against one of the better defensive teams in the country. Appalachian State University will face off against Western Kentucky University in the 30,000-seat FAU Stadium.  The Appalachian State Mountaineers (10-3) are making their seventh consecutive bowl appearance. After coming close to a Sun Belt Conference championship, the Mountaineers are looking to utilize a Top 20-rated defense in points allowed to win the Boca Raton Bowl.  The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (8-5) were the runner-up in the Conference USA championship game. The team’s quarterback threw for more than 5,500 yards and executed 56 touchdown passes.
