Volunteer students earn 4 hours of community service

Councilman Terence ‘T.D.’ Davis is joining with Mayor Thomas A. Masters and Neighbors United, one of the oldest neighborhood groups in the City, to lead a neighborhood cleanup of Monroe Heights.

The cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Volunteers will meet in the morning in Monroe Heights Park, located on 25^th Street at Avenue M, and fan out from there.

The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), which is being sponsored locally by Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful. Volunteers are being sought and can register on-site or in advance. Children under 17 need a parent’s signature.

Volunteers will receive four community service hours, free lunch, free commemorative T-shirts and all necessary cleaning supplies. 

The event is one of dozens of cleanups planned across Palm Beach County as part of the ICC, a worldwide cleanup effort sponsored by The Ocean Conservancy. While the focus is on cleaning up waterways, the Conservancy supports neighborhood cleanups in an effort to remove trash before it gets into bodies of water.
