Utility Bill Explanation reference numbers:

1. Customer Name – Name that the utility account is registered in.

2.Account # - Your new account number. Please note your new account number, as it has changed when the City converted to the new utility billing system.

3.Customer # - Your new customer number. Please note your customer number, as this was introduced when the City converted to the new billing system.

4.Service Location – Physical address where the service is located.

5.Bill Number – A unique number that is generated by the billing system.

6.Bill Date – This is the day the billing system generated your bill.

7.Due Date - The due date is the date that your bill is due on, or before.

8 .Util Tax – The City assesses a 10% tax (current state law maximum) on fees charged by the Utility Special District for water utility within the City limits. For example, water consumption for this sample bill is $31.18.
The water utility tax equals $3.12,
which is 10 percent of $31.18.

9.Water –This fee is based on the amount of water used that passes through the meter plus the base fee. The base fee is derived from the size of your meter, water and/or irrigation, plus the type of service. This fee may fluctuate each month depending on the amount of water used.

10.Trash – The charge for the collection of garbage.

11.Sewer – Sewer charges, which are determined by water usage plus the sewer base charge. Sewer charges are billed based on the number of gallons of water that pass through the water meter. This fee may fluctuate each month depending on the amount of water used.

12.Stormwater –This charge is to support functions of the Stormwater Management Program. Revenues collected from the stormwater fee allow the City to plan, operate, and maintain stormwater system, which includes stormwater pipe, manholes, outfalls, catch basins, ditches, canals and storm drains.

13.Meter Number –The serial identification number on your water meter(s).

14.Read Code – Type of reading. Refer to # 22 below for explanations.

15.Previous Read Date – The date of the meter read immediately preceding the current meter read.

16.Current Read Date – The date of the current meter read for the current bill cycle.

17.Previous Reading – The previous month’s meter read in thousands of gallons used.

18.Current Reading - The current month’s meter read in thousands of gallons used.

19.Usage - The amount of water used since the last meter read in thousands of gallons.

20.Charge Amount - The individual breakdown of service charges.

21.Consumption History – An easy-to-read graph provides several months of usage history. The information is helpful for conservation purposes, and in alerting you to possible excessive usage.

22.Read Code – Current bill type: A=Actual, E=Estimate, F=Final, W=Water

23.Previous Balance –The total charge for the previous month’s bill.

24.Total Current Billing – Total of charges incurred for this billing cycle.

25.Less Payments Received –Reflects payments received during this billing cycle.

26.Deposit Credits Applied – Reflects any deposits applied to your current charges.

27.Credits Applied – Reflects adjustments (i.e. credits due, prorated charges, etc.) made by the City that were applied to your current charges.

28.Total Amount Due – The amount of your current charges, plus any past due charges.

29.Remit Portion - A detachable stub is located at the bottom of your utility bill. Detach this stub and return it with your payment. Indicate changes in mailing address and other contact information on the back of this stub.

30.Customer Name and Address - The address where your bills are sent.

31.City’s Payment Remittance Address – The address where utility payments should be sent. Utility bills may also be paid online. In addition, customers may also sign up for paperless e-billing.
