Stormwater Master Plan

Project Overview

Progressive and creative stormwater improvement projects can play an important role in improving the quality of life in neighborhoods that have suffered chronic drainage problems. The City of Riviera Beach has chosen to aggressively address historical stormwater concerns by developing a Stormwater Master Plan (SWMP). The capital projects that result will focus on eliminating problems in areas with failing drainage systems and on problems in areas that lack drainage systems. The work required to complete these projects will require surveying, analysis, design and permitting. System analysis/design will be based on the latest edition of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Design Manual, Volume 4.

Ultimately, the SWMP must have public acceptance and support to be a success. Therefore, the project effort includes a 'Public Involvement and Education' element structured to support the City by engaging citizens and elected officials in the SWMP process. An active public involvement and education program will provide important feedback to help insure the SWMP's success.
