4/20/2015 - Notice Altering the Water Chlorination Process from April 26 to May 10, 2015

NEWS RELEASE

RIVIERA BEACH TO ALTER WATER CHLORINATION PROCESS

APRIL 26th TO MAY 10th, 2015.

RIVIERA BEACH In accordance with a program recommended by the Health Department, the city’s water chlorination method will be temporarily changed for two weeks from April 26th to May 10th, 2015. The city will accomplish this strictly precautionary measure to ensure that our water supply remains free of bacteria.

Starting April 26th, 2015, a “free chlorine” water treatment will be used to provide a somewhat stronger disinfection process than the “combined chlorine” treatment which is normally used. The city will revert back to the “combined chlorine” method on May 10th 2015.

Riviera Beach, Gramercy Park, the Town of Palm Beach Shores and certain areas of Palm Beach County within the city’s jurisdiction may notice a chlorine taste and odor in the tap water during this period of time. These are temporary conditions and will not cause adverse health affects. Tropical fish tank owners, Hospitals, Medical Centers, Hotels and residents with medical conditions (i.e. Kidney Dialysis machines) should be aware of the chlorination changes and make adjustments accordingly. Any questions should be directed to the City of Riviera Beach Utility District Administration Office at (561)845-4185.
