Dawn S. Pardo represents District 4 on the Riviera Beach City Council, which encompasses Singer Island. She joined the Council in April 2008, and was chosen by her colleagues to be Council Chairwoman a year later.
Prior to taking her place on the dais, Council Chair Pardo was already well-known in the city as an activist who worked tirelessly to bridge the divide between the Island and the mainland and who led a successful referendum effort to ensure residents had a voice in the city's redevelopment.
She has won many awards for her activism, including a service award from Riviera Beach for helping to co-ordinate the relocation of Hurricane Katrina victims to the city. The Palm Beach County Youth Recreation Association also awarded her its Unsung Hero Award in 2008 and, in 2006, its community involvement award.
Council Chair Pardo is a native New Yorker and moved to Riviera Beach in 1994. Her career has been spent in financial markets, including 15 years on Wall Street as a financial analyst specializing in mergers and acquisitions. The last 13 years, in Florida, she has worked as a foreign exchange trader and international settlements manager for a multibillion dollar investment firm in Boca Raton.
Council Chair Pardo serves on the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach County League of Cities; Member of the Palm Beach County Coastal Council; Member of the North County Intergovernmental Committee; Member of the Palm Beach County Bioscience Land Advisory Board; Member of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Charette Steering Committee; Member of the Blue Heron Boulevard Beautification Committee; Past member of the Riviera Beach Zoning Board of Adjustments; Past officer of the Yacht Harbor Manor Home Owners Association; Co-founder of the Citizens for Responsible Growth for Riviera Beach and Chair of the Public Beach Coalition.
Council Chair Pardo lives on Singer Island with her daughter, who attends the city's Suncoast Community High School, the third best high school in the nation!
