She graduated in 1978 with an associate's degree in accounting.

In 1982, Councilwoman Davis moved to West Palm Beach and began her long career with the Palm Beach County School District, where she remains employed. She continues to take classes at Palm Beach Atlantic College.

Councilwoman Davis became a homeowner in Riviera Beach in 1990, and helped organize the neighborhood association and a street beautification program. She was instrumental in getting county funds to beautify the neighborhood.

In 2004, she ran unopposed in her first attempt at public office.

Councilwoman Davis is an alternate board member on the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization; represents the city as a liaison with the county school district; is alternate board member on the International Plan Amendment Coordinated Review Committee; a member of the Palm Beach County League of Cities; and a member of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials.
